From the French word meaning, “spray of ink”, a Giclée is created by using state of the art print technology to reproduce images. By printing the image on media much like that used for the original – usually either canvas of high-quality paper – a piece of artwork stunningly similar to the original is created. With the advent of Giclée, the reprodcutions have a higher apparent resolution than lithographs. The artist’s color approval and input are essential for creating the final custom setting for the edition.
For Jessica's work, Jon and Jessica have strived to create the highest quality reproduction possible. Jessica's originals are textured with real antique dress patterns which creates a raised surface. For this reason, to capture the highest quality scan possible, Jessica's scans are done on a Crus Scanner, which is museum quality and the very limited number on these machines are primarily located at museums and universities. Jessica's scans are done in Nashville.
These scans can achieve an resolution nearly 3 times larger ( 825 dpi) than most modern printers are able to output (300dpi).
Since the technology used to produce Lithographs uses an imprint method, Jessica and Jon choose to print Jessica's reproductions on a high quality Giclee Ink Jet printer. Jessica and Jon have a home studio for this printing and all Color work and printing is done by Jon, with Jessica always present to ensure accuracy to the original.
Jon also does all of Jessica's framing in their home framing studio. Jessica and Jon strive to use the highest quality acid free materials, including backing, matting, hinging and mounting tapes, and clear bags for display, as well as the highest quality acid free paper the reproductions are printed on, and inks which have a 100 year color fast guarantee.
Each Reproduction is hand signed and numbered by Jessica in limited editions. There will be no second runs of these editions, and while the scans will be kept for documentation, we can assure you if you purchase one of Jessica's archival pigment dye giclee prints your are buying a high quality investment in Jessica and her art.
